Focus on Customer Needs
|

|
Almost
60 years ago Dr. Edward Deming helped institute one
of the greatest economic turnarounds of modern times
in post world war II Japan.
Industries that that he consulted for
continue to lead in productivity and quality today
such as steel and the automotive industries.
By in large both of those industries adhere
to Deming’s 14 points and where they stray from
them they tend to pay for it dearly (i.e.
Toyota
’s recent quality issues).
|
|
More relevant to today’s pressing
inflationary issues is Deming’s 4th
point of ending the practice of rewarding business
on price alone.
Is your organization smart enough to avoid
this trap in managing short term financial
pressures? Is
your organization prepared to get what it rewards
from its supply chain (think Mattel)?
Begin to understand how to drive productivity
by focusing on customer needs, not costs from the
supply chain to deliver on both cost and quality.
Managing the supply chain does not have to be
a zero-sum game.
