Clem Goebel
worked for 22 years at Automotive / Agricultural
OEM’s including Chevrolet Motor Division, White
Motor Truck, John Deere and Massey Ferguson.
He then worked 23 years at Tier I Automotive
Suppliers including Johnson Controls, Walker
Manufacturing and Faurecia Exhaust.
Over the span
of his career he has held the positions of
Jr. Quality Engineer, Quality Engineer, SR. Quality
Engineer, Quality Engineering Supervisor, Quality
Manager, Quality Director and Vice President
Quality.
Currently,
Clem is the President of Goebel Consulting Group Inc., where his primary
focus is on Six Sigma implementation, though he does
consult on all aspects of Quality Engineering, such
as Supplier Quality Assurance, PPAP, Design of
Experiments, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
and Engineering Prototype Shop productivity and
quality enhancement. |

In
addition, Clem is an Adjunct Instructor at Cleary
University in six of the seven courses in their
undergraduate Quality Major, as well as an
instructor in Operations Management at the
undergraduate and graduate level. Beyond the
classroom, Clem is also an Examiner for the Michigan
Quality Council’s Baldrige Quality Award. Further,
he's the Professional Development Chair for the
Detroit Section of the American Society for Quality,
from whom he received the Distinguished Service
Award in 2007, and he
serves as the Membership Chair for the Automotive
Division of ASQ. Along with that, Clem is the Vice
President of Development for the Detroit Chapter of
the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and a member
of the Detroit Deming Study Group which meets at
Madonna University.
He has twice spoken on “A Case Study on Total Quality Management (TQM)”
at the Toledo University Graduate School of Business.
He has also addressed audiences on “Deming’s Red
Bead Experiment”, “A Plant full of Problem
Solvers” and “A Case Study on Total Quality
Management (TQM) at the Detroit Section’s General
Meetings. Other presentations include talks
Automotive Warranty at the Quality Audit Division
annual conference in St. Louis in March 2005 and at
the Kitchener Section of the American Society for
Quality. Recent
addresses include the one he did on Monte
Carlo Simulation at the Automotive Division’s
“Paper Symposium” at Oakland University in
February 2007, which made the Spring 2007 edition of
“Automotive Excellence,” as well as the two
talks at this year’s World Conference on Quality
& Improvement in Orlando, which included the
Deming Red Bead experiment and a presentation on
“A Plant Full of Problem Solvers”.
